Edlean Etta "Birdie" Abegglen passed away Dec. 12, 2007 at her home in Vernal. She was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Roosevelt, to Lawrence Ulrich Abegglen and Edlean Emily Clark Abegglen.

She was the mother of four children, Rance Searle, Sonja (Lon) Seeley, Rhett (Lola) Searle and Randy (Vickie) Searle. She is a grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Fond memories of her childhood were spent growing up in Lapoint. She had a great love for her parents and always talked about what great examples they were. Mother mentioned often how no one was a stranger in their home, the door was always open and everyone felt welcome.

She spent time in Washington, D.C., working for the FBI and then returned to Vernal working in the office at the Uintah and Ouray Indian Agency in Fort Duchesne, Utah before her marriage.

Edlean is preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Mast, Alice Mott, Gladys Soderquist and Gwen Abegglen; Four brothers, Larry Abegglen, Clark Boy Abegglen, Lewis Abegglen and Bill Abegglen; one grand-daughter, Michelle Annette McNeil; and one grandson, Woodey B. Searle II. She is survived by two sisters, Verna Karren and Katherin Hauptfleisch.

Funeral Service were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Viewing was at the mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesdat one hour prior to services. Burial in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary after family says goodbye.
