John Wesley Hall was born July 22, 1924, to William and Adelaide (Tralle) Hall in Northfield. He spent his entire childhood in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School. He then enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He was stationed in Italy, France and Germany. While stationed in Berlin, he met Hedwig "Hedka" Rogalla, who was working as a waitress at the American Red Cross. They were married Aug. 12, 1947, In Roth bei Hilpostein, Germany. Hedka came to Northfield shortly after their marriage, living with Johns parents until his honorable discharge. Upon his return, he worked at the Northfield Foundry for a short time then worked for many years at the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant. He and Hedka then owned and operated the Ole Store and Cafe on the west side of Northfield for a few years. He then began working for Northfield Schools, primarily as a groundkeeper. He has been seen for many years driving a large lawn mower on the school grounds. In his spare time, he worked in his woodworking shop. He was an avid outdoorsman who hunted and fished a lot in his younger days and now was happy feeding the birds and enjoying nature. He had a large garden, won many awards for his roses, and liked to cook and bake.

Hall is survived by three daughters, Heidi Hall of New York, Mary (Tom) Coyle of Ashburn, VA and Erika (Mark) Eberlein of Edina; two sons, Dan (Kitty) of Chicago, Ill., and Peter (Joann) of Lakeville; one sister, Arlene Boevers of Northfield; one brother, Fran Hall of Colorado; three sisters-in-law, Vangie Hall and Alice Hall, both of Northfield, and Lil Hall of California; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hedka; three sisters, Marion Kleeberger, Helen Abbott, and Margaret Dunley; and three brothers, Ralph, Roger and Richard.

Arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home.
