HEBER CITY--Charles David Thacker, 84, died of natural causes Sunday in Heber City hospital.

Mr. Thacker was born November 28, 1883, in Daniel, Wyoming, a son of Charles Edwin and Maria Price Thacker.

He was married to Alice Jane Wagstaff on February 22, 1906. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Among the survivors are two daughters, Mar. Clarence (Laprele) Stoker, Clearfield and Mrs. Dave (Luella) Hallewell, Ogden.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Heber City 3rd LDS Ward Chapel.

Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary in Heber City tonight from 7 to 9 and Wednesday prior to services.

HEBER MAN WILL BE HONORED ON 80TH BIRTHDAY

HEBER--An open house Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. will honor Dave Thacker on his 80th birthday. Friends and relatives are invited to his home at 451 S. 1st E. in Heber.

Mr. Thacker requests no gifts.

He was born November 28, 1883, at Buysville, Utah, a son of Charles E. and Maria Price Thacker. On February 22, 1906 he married Alice Jane Wagstaff. In 1956 the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They are the parents of 12 children, 11 of whom are living, including four from Utah County: Mrs. Ernest (Ida) Morgan, both of Provo and Mrs. William (Mae) Wright and Lyle Thacker, both of Pleasant Grove. There are also 54 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thacker's hobbies are riding horses, training and driving oxen. He has driven oxen in parades in Heber, Provo and Salt Lake City many times.

During his early life Mr. Thacker lived in Utah and Wyoming, and then moved to Charleston, Utah, where his family owned a sawmill. Mr. Thacker was employed as a R. F. D. mail carrier, a dairy farmer and a cattleman. He has been active in the LDS Church serving in the Sunday School, the YMMIA and in dramatic productions. He is still engaged in the livestock business.

Charles David Thacker is the son of Maria Rawlins and Charles Edwin Thacker.

He married Alice Jane Wagstaff February 22, 1906 in Charleston, Utah.

Their children: LaPrele Thacker, Ida A. Thacker, Lela Marie Thacker, Lois Thacker, Charles Heber Thacker, Vau Ness Thacker, Luella Thacker, Mae Thacker, Floyd Verl Thacker, Carma Ann Thacker, Lowell David Thacker and Lyle Vern Thacker.

When David got older he was deaf but could read lips and tell what was said. He'd been deaf most of his adult life. He talked a little funny, probably from being deaf so long. He was generally warm, happy and outgoing. He usually had black licorice or black gumdrops on hand to give to kids.
