Well Know[n] Man Passes Away At Turlock
The funeral for the late James Preston Richey was held Thursday afternoon from the Nordgren mortuary parlors and was largely attended.
Rev P F Morgan conducted the services assisted by Rev G W Leonard and internment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery. It was just a simple, sweet service with no music and many beautiful flowers.
Mr Richey passed away peacefully at the home of his sister, Mrs William Abbott at Turlock on Tuesday morning after an illness of several months.
He leaves a ten year old daughter, a father, four brothers and three sisters, most of whom were present at the funeral and also a wide circle of friends being a member of one of the oldest and best known pioneer families of the county's pioneer days. Coming from Ione, Amador county, where he was born in 1865; with his parents while quite a lad, to settle on the broad acres of the Merced plains.
The aged father is WC Richey, the brothers WH and SN of Merced, JC of Reno, EC of Turlock and the sisters are Mrs O D Williams and Mrs W W Abbott of Turlock, and Mrs Frank MCConnell of Oakland.
