Again we are called to chronicle the sad news of the death of a mother Mrs Minerva Ann Richey, wife of W C Richey, and old and well known citizen of Merced County.
Mrs Ritchey was born in Lee Co Iowa Dec 28, 1810 and was among the early emigrants to the Golden State, starting in the spring of '52, wintering in Salt Lake and arriving in Jackson, Amador county in the spring of '53, living in Amador county until the year 1881 and moving to Merced Co and living here until her demise Jan 19, 1904.
The deceased met Mr Richey on her arrival to California and four years later was united in marriage to the husband of her choice [1857]. The fruits of their marriage were eleven children, eight sons and four daughters. Three sons, Robert R, aged 2, Benjamin Franklin aged 2 1/2 years and Arthur Lewis, aged 1 year, have gone before, to welcome her, leaving five sons, Wm H, John C, James P, Samuel N, and Edward C and Mrs NE Abbott, Mrs MA McConnell and Mrs LM Williams, one sister, four brothers and sixteen grandchildren to mourn the loss of a patient, noble Christian mother, whose untimely death came as a shock to all relatives and friends.
Throughout her last illness she showed that strong will and fortitude and determination to bear with patience the cross of affliction which God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to lay upon her shoulders and at last to gather he into his arms san say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant enter thou into the Kingdom of Heaven."

Daughter of Calvin Dillion and his wife, Nancy Jane Walker. Sister of Francis, Henry, William and Benjamin.
The family lived in Montrose, Lee, Iowa in 1850, her father was a farmer.
