DEATH OF FORMER MERCED FARMER
William H Richey, a well known former Merced county farmer passed away at his home in Linden San Joaquin county on Friday of last week, death being caused by paralysis. Mr Richey was a native of Amador county and aged 63 years. He came to Merced in 1884 and was engaged in farming in the Livingston and Atwater sections until 1911 when he moved to Linden. He was well and favorably known among the old time residents of this county and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Josie Wheat, a daughter of the late Job Wheat, who was a prominent pioneer settler of this county, and four children - Mrs Ella Ivers of Bakersfield, Mrs Nellie Margini, William H Richey Jr and Everett A Richey of Stockton. Other surviving relatives are his mother and the following sisters and brother: Mrs Nancy Abbott and Mrs Annie McConnell of Livingston, Mrs Lulu Williams of Turlock and Edward C Richey of Lodi.
Funeral services were held at Linden on Monday morning, following which the remains were brought to Merced for internment in the local IOOF cemetery.
