Gladys Eleanor Branch Fitzgerald departed this life on May 27, 2002. She was born August 3, 1921 in Richmond, VA, to the late Howard and Annie Branch, and was one of 10 children of that union, five boys and five girls.

Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Morris Fitzgerald.

She was a former teacher with the Richmond Public Schools System.

She was survived by two devoted and loving daughters, Alma and Iris; one caring son-in-law, Thomas R. Haynes, Jr.; an adoring granddaughter, Joi Alexia Jackson; two beloved grandsons, Roger Morris Haynes and Gerald Spencer Haynes; three sisters, Mrs. Ercelle B. Henderson, Mrs. Dorothy B. Williams, and Mrs. Rose B. Gibson; two brothers, Richard Branch and James M. Branch; seven sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services remembering her life were held at First Baptist Church in South Richmond, Virginia on June 1, 2002. The Rev. Dwight C. Jones officiated.

Professional services were rendered by Ware-Smith-Woolover Funeral Directors in Midland, MI and Mimms Funeral Home in Richmond, VA.
