Mrs. Dorothy B. Williams, of Richmond, departed this life March 5, 2005.

She was born September 18, 1919 in Richmond, VA, to the late Howard and Annie Branch, and was one of 10 children of that union, five boys and five girls.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. "Gospel Joe" Williams, leader and manager of the Harmonizing Four, one of the top gospel quartets of the postwar era.

Also preceded her in death were her sister, Gladys B. Fitzgerald and her brother James M. Branch.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Bernetta M. Williams; two sisters, Ercelle B. Henderson and Rose B. Gibson (Frank); brother, Richard Branch (Maggie); a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Marian Branch and Louise Branch; other relatives and friends.

Remains rested at Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 1 p.m., at Swansboro Baptist Church, Midlothian Turnpike and Roanoke Street. Dr. H.R. Plummer, pastor, officiated. Interment Maury Cemetery.
