~Caroline "Carrie" Barlow Crump~

Carrie Barlow's given name was Caroline. She was the youngest daughter of Calvin Barlow and Loretta "Ritta" Bentley Barlow and was probably born in Watuaga County, North Carolina. Carrie's mother died when Carrie was about 6 years old. It is believed by family members that Carrie's second eldest sister, Lauretta "Lou" took care of her younger siblings after the death of their mother.

Carrie married William R Crump on October 14, 1894 in the Globe Township of Caldwell County. Per the marriage certificate:
Bride: Carrie Barlow, of Caldwell County, age 18, daughter of Calvin Barlow and unknown mother, the father living in Watauga County, NC and the mother was dead.
Groom: William R. Crump, of Caldwell County, age 23, son of David Crump and Jane M. Crump, the father and mother living and living in Caldwell County, NC.

Per undocumented sources, Carrie and William Crump were the parents of 12 children. Per census records, one legible headstone of an infant son, death certificates and other records, 9 children can be documented. Per a cemetery census by Mark Lawson of the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery, also known as Carey's Flat, there are several unmarked (or headstones that are not legible) in the cemetery where Carrie and William are buried.

Per the 1900 Census, Carrie was the mother of 4 children and 2 were living. Per the 1910 Census, Carrie was the mother of 8 children and 6 were living. After the date of the 1910 Census, one known child, a daughter, was born to Carrie and William Crump. At the time of the 1920 Census, William Crump was widowed and 7 of the children that were born to him and Carrie were living with him. It is possible that Carrie and William Crump had more children as others could have been born and died between the 1910 Census and the 1920 Census. Carrie died September 26, 1919.
