LANDES - Rachel Eti, daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Frantz) Neher Garber, was born July 25, 1902, in Mont¬gomery Co., Ohio. She departed this life on Sunday evening, Oct. 25, 1992, in the Dayview Care Center, New Carlisle, Ohio, at the age of 90 years and 3 months.

She was united in marriage with Daniel E. Landes on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1921, at 11:30 a.m., in her parents' home on Diamond Mill Road by her uncle, Elder Simeon Frantz. To this union were born 2 sons and 3 daughters. They shared the joys and sorrows of life together for 68 years. She, with her companion, was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in the Salem district in April 1926.

In Dec. 1928, they moved to a farm south of Brookville within the bounds of the WoK Creek district where she, with her companion, was called to the Ministry in 1940, in which office she served faithfully as long as health permitted.

In Aug. 1975, they retired from the farm and moved to a home in the Maple Grove district where they enjoyed their sunset years living nearer their family. Later, Mother was taken into the homes of her children where she was tenderly cared for until she entered the Dayview Care Center in July 1990.
Surviving with cherished memories are the 5 children and their companions: Dennis and Ruth Landes, Alva and Pauline Landes, Lela and Marvin Shoup, Bernice and Robert Boone, and Delma and Richard Swearingen; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband on Dec. 5, 1989; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Landes; 4 haK brothers and 4 half sisters: Homer Garber, Ivan Garber, Harvey Neher, Howard Neher, Cora (Garber) Wampler, Ada (Garber) Deeter, Lulu (Garber) Wade, and Anna (Neher) Royer.

Thus has ended a full life - one lived in anticipation of the promise of that heavenly home which Jesus has prepared for those that love Him.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 28, at 9:15 a.m., in the funeral home by Bro. Dean Kinsley from Ps.1, and in the Maple Grove meetinghouse by Elders Dallas Lavy and Carl Bowman from 1 Thess. 1:3. Hymns used were 450, 451, and 455. Burial was made in the Maple Grove Church Cemetery where Elder Lowell Filbrun officiated. Hymns used were 150, 452, and 494.
