Obituary
Mary Alice Barron Blackmon, 85, daughter of the late Harvey Clinton and Maude Lee Dixon Barron, passed away March 10, 2021, at her home. The widow of Cooper Gene Blackmon, she was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She played piano for worship service for many years and was a devoted Sunday School teacher. A former president of the Women’s Missionary Union, she was dedicated to teaching and spreading the Word of God.
Mrs Blackmon’s legacy that will cherish her memory includes daughters, Donna Blackmon Bertram, Melinda Rogers (Walter), and Leigh Morris (Ric), all of Covington and one son, Mark Blackmon (Karen), of Erin, TN; eight grandchildren, Missy Smith (Kim), Stacy Baggett (Randy), Seth Blackmon (Heather), Clint Rogers (Jerica), Nathan Rogers (Elizabeth), Justine (Brett) Turner who were her loving caregivers, Jessica Erwin (Cody), and Jake Morris; 12 great-grandchildren Briana, Grace (Brennan), Drew, Logan, Lilly, Eli, Nora, Aaron, Sadie, Finn, Bailey and Ethan; and one brother-in-law, Virgil (Sonny) Blackmon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 65 years, nine sisters, Oma Hazelrig (Ellis), Lola Smith (Lyman), Edna Jones (Leon), Josie Smith (Lansing), Alma Lindquist (Heber), Ann Hale (GC), Helen Barron, Hazel Rahrer (Bill), Laura Blackmon, and three brothers, James Barron (Ann), William Barron (Rubye), and Bob Barron (Lillian, Jean).
Visitation will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Maley Yarbrough Funeral home with the service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in R H Munford Cemetery in Covington.
Donations to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and Dementia would be appreciated or to donors choice.
