Mrs. Rahrer passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
She was a native of Tipton County, Tennessee and after meeting and marrying her husband Bill in Mobile in November, 1948, she accompanied him to Japan in 1957. They returned to Mobile in 1960 and subsequently resided in Montana, North Dakota, Mobile and then Florida where they lived for 12 years until Bill’s retirement from Cape Kennedy. They moved to Clay County in 1977, where she owned and operated “The Fabric Shop” for a number of years. Mrs. Rahrer was an active member of Lineville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, led the Training Union classes and served as WMU Director for many years. She was also a former member and president of the Progressive Club and will be fondly remembered for visiting and ministering to many people in many ways.
Mrs. Rahrer is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Rahrer; two daughters: Barbara Rahrer of Lineville and Leah Venezia (John) of Denver, CO; one son: Billy Rahrer (Jennifer) of Denver, CO; two grandsons: Cooper and Grady Rahrer of Denver, CO; two sisters: Mary Blackmon (Gene) and Laura Blackmon (Sonny) both of Covington, TN and one daughter-in-law, Helen Rahrer of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Harvey Clinton Barron and Maude Lee Dixon Barron; one son, Michael Rahrer and 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
Deacons of Lineville Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Faithful and Friendly Sunday School classes.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Lineville Baptist Church on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. The family will accept flowers; however the family prefers memorial contributions to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Lineville Baptist Church, POB 356, Lineville, AL 366266 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
