"OWATONNA - Lloyd Burdette Barker, 90, of Owatonna and formerly of the Medford area, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Infinia of Faribault.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Medford, with the Rev. Bob Saunders officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Medford. Visitation is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, and at the church Thursday for one hour prior to the service.
Lloyd Burdette Barker, the son of Frank and Nellie (McInnis) Barker, was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Medford Township. He attended Medford Schools and graduated in 1932. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in the Asian an European theaters as a master sergeant in the trucking division. On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Elmira Stegner in Faribault. They lived on a farm near Medford for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Medford; the hugo Matejcek VFW Post 3723 of Owatonna; the Mason Star in the East Lodge 33; his church's board of trustees; the cemetery board; and the Medford Township Board.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Larson of Elgin; a son Daniel (and Sandra) Barker of Medford; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elmira; and two brothers."
