Kennerdell, January 19, by Melda Witherup:

Friends and relatives of Miss Mary Jane Phipps saddened to hear of her death on Saturday afternoon at home of her brother, Porter Phipps, at Pittsburgh. Had gone there to spend winter with her niece, Mrs. Grace Boyce, but became ill from heart affection about two weeks ago. Taken to her brother's home where she was cared for..... Third daughter of Robert and Anne Canan Phipps, member of family of eleven children, all of whom have passed away except Porter Phipps and Rev. R. J. Phipps located in Idaho. Body will be brought to Kennerdell Tuesday, taken to home of her cousin, Mrs. William Cross, with whom she has made her home last few years. Born January 27, 1845 - would have been 75 in ten days, spent her entire life in surrounding community. Services at William Cross residence Wednesday.... Interment in Calvert-Riddle cemetery.
