Further thanks to Find A Grave member Carole Feingold for exact dates of birth and death from John's death certificate. She writes, "John W. Phipps was my great grand uncle. I have a copy of his death certificate. It says he was born 17 Feb 1847 and died 16 Apr 1916 in Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona."
This information begs the question as to whether John was brought home to Pennsylvania for burial, or whether the marker in this cemetery is a memorial stone. Is he buried here or in Arizona?
Note the discrepancy in his year of death, between his gravestone and the data from the death certificate.
