The funeral for Mrs. Laura Bessie Bogart, 91, was held Wednesday, October 15 at 2 p.m. at the Gypsum United Methodist Church, Pastor Ralph Cotton officiating. Burial was in the Gypsum Cemetery.
Mrs. Bogart died Sunday, October 12 at Asbury Hospital, Salina, Kansas. She was born southwest of Gypsum, December 15, 1888 to Edward and Barbara Snyder, a pioneer family of Gypsum. The first telephone exchange in Gypsum was installed in her parents' restaurant and Laura (Snyder) Bogart became manager of the new telephone company at the age of 16. She was a member of the Gypsum United Methodist Church.
She married James C. Bogart November 17, 1909 and he died in 1941. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth, Salina; Ralph, Gypsum; Wayne, Wichita; three daughters, Irene Bogart, Salina; Artha Sippel, Bridgeport; Edna Armbruster, Lindsborg; two daughters-in-law, Irma Bogart, Olathe; Maxine Bogart, Topeka; one brother, Frank Snyder, Topeka; one sister-in-law, Ginevra Dawson of Abilene; 26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Beauford, in 1970 and William in 1975. Also three sisters; Cora Winkler, Sadie Underwood and Angie Pettle and a brother Joe Snyder, 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Gypsum Ambulance Fund.
