Relatives in Gypsum were notified Tuesday (November 7, 1950) of the death that afternoon of Joe Snyder, 52, Salina, a former Gypsum resident. Although in failing health for several years, Mr. Snyder worked until last week at his position as bookkeeper for the Cook Paint Company, Salina. Mr. Snyder became ill Monday and entered Asbury hospital that evening where he passed away. Death was attributed to heart failure and other complications.

Mr. Snyder was born at Gypsum Feb. 19, 1868. He was a member of the Masonic lodge. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Laura King-Snyder, Salina; one son, Park of Baltimore, Md.; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Bogart, Mrs. Cora Winkler, Mrs. Sadie Underwood, Mrs. Angie Pettle, all of Gypsum; one brother, Frank Snyder, Topeka; and two grandchildren.

Before moving to Salina from Gypsum, Mr. Snyder was assistant cashier at the Farmers State Bank of Gypsum. He had also served one term as county treasurer.

Funeral will be at 10:30 am Friday at the Rush Smith Funeral home, the Rev. James S. Elliott officiating. Entombment will be in Hillcrest mausoleum in Gypsum Hill cemetery.
