GERTRUDE A. WARD
Mrs. Gertrude A. Ward, 75, of Fontana, died Thursday at Glen-dale. She was the widow of Gerald E. Ward and was a native of England. Mrs. Ward was a past regent of the Daughters of the British Empire of Los Angeles and a past president of the P.T.A. in Los Angeles. She organized a branch of the British War Relief in Fontana and was an active member of St John's Episcopal church in San Bernardino, transferring her activities later to the Fontana Community church. The greater part of her married life was spent in Mexico, where the late Mr. Ward was acting British consul and manager of the water company at Mazatlan. She had resided in Fontana for the past 17 years. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. N. Rogers Bayly, of San Bernardino, two sons, Edward G. Ward of Glendale and Charles B. Ward of Fresno; five grandchildren, Miss Mary Varnado, Miss Gertrude Varnado, Miss Carolyn Ann Ward, Gerald E. Ward and Charles Richard Ward. Funeral services will be held today at 4 p. m. from the Ingold Funeral Home chapel in Fontana, with the Rev. John A. Macdonald of the Community church officiating. Burial arrangements have not been completed.
