Mary was born in 1816. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Cox and Joanna Tenney. She married Levi Hallowell about 1838. They lived in Edmunds and had seven children: Rufus H Hallowell, Joseph J Hallowell, julia Ann Hallowell, Dianthia M Hallowell, Enoch L Hallowell, Maria E Hallowell, and Levi C Hallowell. Dianthia, Maria, and Levi are buried in South Edmunds Cemetery (aka Lower Edmunds Cemetery) with their parents. Mary passed away in 1883. Her age was given on her grave stone as: 67 years, 1 month, 7 days. Her husband Levi passed away in 1865. Levi was the son of Joseph Hallowell and Nancy Jones. Levi was brother to Lovina Hallowell Cox. Mary was sister to Lovina’s husband John Cox and to Nathaniel Cox III (both are buried in South Edmunds Cemetery).
