Dr. Richard Frederick "Dick" Sullivan, Ph.D. Ed., youngest son of William Andrew Sullivan & Almyra Roxanna (Stout) Sullivan, a longtime resident of Chittenango, NY, and more-recently, Fayetteville, NY, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, on May 3, 2020.

He was the youngest son of 6 children. He was predeceased by his sisters Ellen, Joyce, and Elizabeth "Bette", and by his brother Gordon. Survived by his brother Grant.

Cause of death was Complications (pneumonia) due to Noval Coronavirus 2019 COVID-19 infection.

May 3, 2020 Richard F. Sullivan, 89, formerly of Chittenango passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Afton, NY, Dick was a resident of Chittenango 64 years moving to Fayetteville in 2017. Dick was an elementary school teacher in the Chittenango Central School District for 33 years retiring in 1986. An active member of the Chittenango community, Dick was the Village of Chittenango historian, he was a member of the Chittenango Lion's Club, he volunteered at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and the Chittenango Oz Fest, he was a member of the Oakwood Cemetery in Chittenango Board of Trustee's, a past member of the Town of Sullivan Park's Board, was a Boy Scout leader for many years and was a member of the NYS Retired teachers Association. He was presented the President's Lifetime Achievement Award by President Obama in 2016. Dick was a member of the Chittenango United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife Martha in 2013. He is survived by his son Michael Sullivan (Lora) of Chittenango, his companion Wilma Stedman of Fayetteville, his brother Grant Sullivan of Greene, NY, and his grandchildren, Jarrett and Sean Sullivan and Leah Potter. Private family services will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Contributions in Dick's memory may be made to the Chittenango Lion's Club, P.O. Richard earned is Doctorate in Elementary Education at SUNY/Cortland (then called "Cortland State Teacher's College").

He taught 5th Grade in the Chittenango, NY School System for many years.
