Mrs Eva May Steward, 78, wife of Sherman Steward, died at 10:40 o'clock Monday night at the St. Joseph Hospital, where she was taken early that morning. Death resulted from a coronary ailment.
Mr and Mrs Steward lived for 30 years at 629 South Jay street, this city, moving 16 years ago to their present home which is near Jewell.
She was born March 25, 1872 in Clay township, the daughter of Samuel and Janie Miller. She and Mr Steward were married March 31, 1894 in this city.
Surviving with the husband are a son, Chester M Steward, Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs Hazel Keim, South Bend; a brother, Roy Miller, Peru route 1; a sister, Mrs Mary Stone, Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The deceased was a member of Grace Methodist church and the Berean-Criterion Sunday school class and of the Pocahontas, Beatrice Rebekah, and Daughters of America lodges.
The body will be at the home after 7 o'clock Tuesday night when friends may call. It will be returned to the Ellers Mortuary at noon Thursday for services in the chapel there at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev Thurman Morris will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
