She was born December 21, 1883, in McMurray, a daughter of William A. and Ella Fife Matthews, and was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Dougherty taught school in the Canonsburg area, and was a Past Regent of the Canonsburg Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
For several years, she was employed in the circulation department of the Canonsburg Daily Notes.
For the past three years she made her home with her daughter, Margaret Louise Hensel Hurley, St. Leonard, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Ethyl M. Wassum, Orlando, Fla.; a grandson, Walter Hensel; a granddaughter, Barbara Jean Bagley; a nephew, Willard A. Matthews, Houston, and several other nieces and nephews in the Canonsburg area.
