Margaret Carlin was born to Catherine Lang and James Carlin in Sept. 1899. Her father left the family when she was married to her first husband and was never heard from again. She married Howard Thompson in 1816 and had 3 daughters, Eleanor, Catherine and Maxine. Maxine is the only surviving daughter. In Oct of 1925 she married Gust Poulos and had 3 sons, Peter, John and George (my father) Pete is the only surviving son. She was my grandmother.
I used to sit on the back of the couch with her sitting in front of me, I would have a glass of water and a comb and we would play hairdresser. My mother said when she would pick me up after work there would be my poor grandmother with water running down her face and these curlers in her hair. What a sport.
