Virginia Campbell Byrum Truslow made her journey to heaven on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. She has changed her address from Wesley Pines Retirement Home to Heaven.

A celebration of Virginia Truslow's life will be held Monday, Oct. 1. at 11 p.m. at Wesley Pines Retirement Home Chapel, 1000 Wesley Pines Road, Lumberton, N.C. 28358.

She was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Edenton, to Lillian Forehand Byrum and Thomas Campbell Byrum.

She graduated from Meredith College.

Virginia and Joe were married April 24, 1945.

She was a member of Lumberton First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and generously served. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She attended Bible Alive Bible studies. She was a member of Lumberton Garden Club, various book clubs and bridge groups.

She taught high school Biology in Lumberton and Bladenboro. She lovingly cared for her family, friends, neighbors and greater community. She famously made and gave her homemade cheese biscuits and pimento cheese.

Family and friends routinely received her letters and notes of encouragement and scriptures, reminding them that God has "set eternity in the hearts of men" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Virginia was the wife of Joe A. Truslow, deceased July 18, 2011; and the mother of Ginny Truslow Kennerly (husband, Ben, of Winter Park, Fla), Grover Campbell Truslow (wife, Adele, of Hillsborough) and George A. Truslow, deceased April 29, 1953. She was deeply loved by her granddaughter, Amanda Kennerly Hopkins (husband, Anthony, of Smithfield); and her great grandchildren, Lexi, Logan, and Campbell Hopkins; granddaughter, Jennifer Freeman Tranchese (husband, Luigi, of Durham, NC) and great-granddaughter, Sofia, and grandson, Christopher Freeman, (wife, Melissa of New Orleans, La.) and great-granddaughter, Evangeline.
