Gert Haage, 84, LeMars, Plymouth county native and lifelong resident died Tuesday, January 1, 1991, at Brendwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 pm Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, rural Akron. Rev. Stephany Sanborn officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery at rural Akron, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson funeral home in LeMars.

Mr. Haage was born November 5, 1906 in Preston township, Plymouth county, Iowa to Fred and Johanna Nannen Haage. He married Helen Lubben October 6, 1938 in Grant township, Plymouth county. The couple farmed in Preston township for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of LeMars; two sons, Lavoy Haage and his wife, Theo of Des Moines; James Haage and his wife, Julie of Muscatine, Iowa; a daughter, Linda Hawkins and her husband, Stephen of Commerce City, Colorado; two sisters, Christena Lubben and Hannah Borchers, both of LeMars; five grandchildren, Eric and Kirk Haage of Des Moines, Ryan and Kerry Haage of Muscatine and Barry Hawkins of Commerce City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Herman, Fred and Henry; two sisters, Flora Cassens and Anna Meyer; two infant daughters, and a grandson Jay Hawkins.
