Died: May 5, 2019

Lena Catherine Wisecarver, 88, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Wisecarver was born in 1930 in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Salem and Mary Newlin. She was a hardworking, kind woman that was previously employed at CBS Fruit Packing in Stephens City and retired from Marker-Miller Orchards, and goes without saying she loved apples. Mrs. Wisecarver enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and planting flowers. One of her favorite times of year was Apple Blossom. She was a member of Second Opequon Presbyterian Church, where she played the organ. Mrs. Wisecarver was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and family was her greatest passion.

Her husband, Roy Philip Wisecarver, Sr., whom she married on November 15, 1946 in Hagerstown, Maryland, preceded her in death in 1993.

Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Fay Johnson; son, Robert "Bussie" William Wisecarver; grandchildren, Mark Edward Wisecarver, Cathy Dawn Golliday, Becky Lee Welsh; great grandchildren, Caitlin Danielle Heishman, Derek Sheldon Welsh, Benjamin Orra Welsh, Sabrina Renae Golliday, William Allen Golliday, Philip Clay Wisecarver, Emma Sue Wisecarver; great great grandchildren, Stella Grace Heishman, Madeline Lee Pitts, Ryli Jo Rice, and Owen Ryan Bunner; and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Wisecarver was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Madeline Boyd; a son, Roy "Jimmy" Philip Wisecarver, Jr.; sisters, Grace Madeline Pitcock and Margaret Virginia Hewitt-Gardner; and brothers, Floyd William Newlin, Raymond Asbury Newlin, and Roy Nelson Newlin.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be at 1 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Andy Tinsman officiating. Interment will be in Old Quaker Cemetery, Cedar Creek Grade, Frederick County, Virginia.
