Mr. Beard was born Sept. 8, 1917 in Viola, the son of Don and Bessie Glancey Beard. He married Pearl Barton March 12, 1948; she died in 1983.

He enjoyed fishing and wildlife.
Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Jeffrey Moyer, Moline and Jo Ann Beard Ithaca, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Kathy Beard, Moline; granchildren, Matt Moyer, Jill Sawyer and Stephanie and Joshua Beard; a great-granddaughter; siters, Elsie Munson, Viola and Marge Kisler, Galesburg; and a brother Dwight Beard, Silvis.
