*Nelson, a mining town in Crawford county, is located in Washington township on the Kansas City Southern R. R. 12 miles east of Girard, the county seat, and about 5 miles northeast of Pittsburg, whence its mail is received by rural route. It has telegraph and express offices. The population in 1910 was 419.
