Myrtle Elmina Long was born to Edward Long and Arminta Dennis.

Myrtle Long married Henry Arthur Shaeffer Sep. 28, 1911.

Together they had a son; Benjamin Woodrow Shaeffer, and a daughter; Maysel Shaeffer-Hansen

After Myrtle lost her husband in 1924, she was left to support her two children alone. Her beautician suggested she learned how to give permanents. She started by going door to door giving permanents. She eventually opened her own beauty salon.

Myrtle is my great grandmother.
