Maysel is the daughter of Henry A. Shaeffer and Myrtle Long-Shaeffer.

In a letter written to me by my great aunt Maysel, she told me to love my family and read to my child. Time is precious and goes by fast; as she had just turned 80 years old. She recounted the past to me. She lost her father at a young age and watched her mother struggle to support her family. She said they never went without the essentials but never had everything they may have wanted. As for her relationship with her older brother it was typical when they were kids. As they grew older and had their own families they realized the importance of their bond as siblings and spent as much time together as time allowed. They enjoyed trips to Vegas, playing bridge and spending time talking. I wish I had gotten to know this remarkable lady better. I believe she was a kind and caring person who valued her family and friends. We often take our family and friends for granted until it is too late. I think she wanted me to know that I should not do that. This is what I think of when I think of her and I hope that after you read this you will think of this too.
