Henry Arthur Shaeffer was the youngest of 7 children and only son born to Henry William Shaeffer and Malinda Nickles.

Henry was brought up in Misosuri and eventually came to Washington State. When he was old enough to work, he got a job at his brother-in-law's flour mill. He suffered a heart attack while at work and decided that manual labor was not for him.

He was furnished a "bogus" high school diploma in 1906 by another brother-in-law, that was a high school principal. He then enrolled in Dental College at Portland, Oregon. He graduated in 1910.

Henry Shaeffer married Myrtle Elmina Long Sep. 28, 1911 in Portland, Oregon.

They moved to Enterprise, Oregon where he practiced Dentistry.

Henry and Myrtle had a son; Benjamin Woodrow Shaeffer, and a daughter Maysel Shaeffer-Hansen

Starting in 1921 the family moved to Hillsboro, then Bend and Redmond.

By September of 1924 they settled in Joseph, Oregon.

December 12, 1924 Henry was at a restaurant and suffered a heart attack while choking.

Henry Shaeffer is my great grandfather.
