John was born c. 1797-1798 in Knox Co., TN to Drewry/Drew Hembree. He married c. 1823 to Mrs. Margaret "Maggie" Butler. Some believe her maiden name may have been Dedmon, however, that Maggie is a different woman with diffferent Butler descendants. One son's death certificate lists her maiden name as Bledsoe, but this may be the INFORMANT's own mother. John died south of Galena, and is most likely buried in the Hembree Cemetery. Many rocks are in that cemetery and there is no way to tell which rock is his. Therefore, his grave is unmarked. Taking MY photo of one of the various rocks and posting it to THIS memorial is fruitless. I own the photo attached to this memorial, as I took the photo.
