Retna Angeline Osborne Kirts, age 91, died Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Four Seasons Health Care Center. She was born January 9, 1927 at Crab Orchard, Kentucky to Thomas Welchman Osborne and Lenora Smith Osborne. Her family moved to Indiana, and she attended school at Van Buren in Brown County. At the age of 17 she began working at PR Mallory in Indianapolis. She married Russell Kirts on March 2, 1946, after he returned from WWII in 1945. They were married 67 years when he died October 12, 2013.Retna worked at Arvin on 13th Street in Columbus and Columbus Process later CP Electronics over 20 years until it closed. After CP Electronics was closed, she worked at Gibco Diagnostics. She retired from Cummins on August 1, 1985.She was an accomplished seamstress and made her granddaughter Tonya's prom dress. She also loved to crochet. Although she always worked outside the home, she kept the house immaculate and preserved her own food. She was a member of First Christian Church. She and her granddaughter, Ashley were baptized the same day.She is survived by children, Linda Elaine Kirts Pruitt of Columbus, Randall B. Kirts and wife Becky of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Gina Kirts England and husband Roger of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tonya Pruitt Shewmake and husband Chris of Columbus, Eric R. Pruitt of Louisville, KY, Jesse R. Moore and wife Stacy of Brown County, IN, Jake R. Kirts and wife Megan of Louisville, KY, Ashley Moore Elbert and husband TJ of Cicero, IN, Kalee Kirts Thompson and husband Will of Bangalore, India, Jessica Salo and husband Eric of Rockford, MI and Cassie Gublinski and husband Capt. AJ Gublinski of Olney, MD; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lydia, Elaina, Caleb, Sarah, Logan, Bryson, Thatcher, Sam, Callum, Gemma, Julia, Lynne, Mary, Kylie, Evolet, Penny, Tallulah, Will, and Henry; and her sister, Estelle Osborne Pugh of Crawfordsville, IN.She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jay, Esther, Vivian, Odella, Rissie, Geoffrey, Dan, Loyd, Retha, and Carolyn.
