Lloyd Keith Chapman, 87, of Michigan City, Indiana, entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2018, following a brief illness. Lloyd was a loving father to his son, Lesley K. Chapman and Les' wife, Mary Ann. He enjoyed being a grandfather to Alison Bishel, Alissa (Dave) Novotney, and Amanda (Blair) Perkins. Lloyd was born in Clark County, IL on June 19, 1931. As the lone surviving child of Chester and Grace (Garrard) Chapman he was the family historian maintaining the family tree and sharing many stories of his siblings Arthur, Phyllis, Raymond, Howard, Warren, Reba, Randall, and step-brothers Carroll and Orville. He was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart, Beverly Ann Schiefelbein, whom he married on June 26, 1954. Lloyd and Bev enjoyed bringing music into their home and each played numerous various instruments. Lloyd was a kind man with the sweetest smile. Family was extremely important to him and he enjoyed talking with family members often and attending the annual Chapman Family reunion in Robinson, IL. During the Korea War Lloyd was stationed in Alaska serving in the Army as a truck driver. His recent participation in Honor Flight Chicago enabled him, along with 100 other veterans, to be recognized for his service to our country. Lloyd enjoyed a 39-year career as owner of Chapman Business Machines. Not one to waste his spare time he completed courses to become a clockmaker and was licensed to repair watches and clocks, especially grandfather clocks, which became a life-long passion. Sunday dinners were spent with his son Les, and Les' wife Mary Ann. Lloyd loved cooking and baking, following many of the family recipes passed down through the years. Lloyd had a wonderful life. A special thank you to the caring staff at Rittenhouse Village at Portage and Dunes Hospice for their loving care and support during Lloyd's final days. Gravesite services will be held for Lloyd at Carmel Cemetery, W. 50 S., LaPorte, IN on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a meal and Celebration of Life at Riley's Railhouse, 4th Street, Chesterton, IN.
