Marie "Mary" Elizabeth Dascher was born near Biscay, McLeod County, Minnesota on October 10, 1881. Marie "Mary" Dascher was one of 14 children born to Simeon Adam and Marie Elizabeth (Ortloff) Dascher. Marie Elizabeth Dascher was baptized on December 4, 1881, and later confirmed, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Biscay, Minnesota.

On November 8, 1900, Mary Dascher married Clarence Lucius Howe, son of Roger and Sarah (Hanscom) Howe, at Glencoe, Minnesota. Ellie Howe, a brother of Clarence, and Anna Dascher, a sister of Marie, served as witnesses at the marriage. Clarence Howe and Mary Dascher were raised in and around the communities of Glencoe and Biscay, McLeod County, Minnesota and grew up on farms just a couple of miles apart.

Following their marriage, Clarence and Mary Howe were engaged in the Howe family farm and other agricultural jobs at Glencoe. In 1906, they purchased a farm in Lebanon Township, McHenry County, North Dakota, northeast of Velva.

Clarence and Mary Howe became parents of 11 children, with the first four being born while they still lived in Glencoe, Minnesota. The children include Merrill Chester, Harold Willis, Edwin Ernest, Floyd Clemmens, Leland Charles, Ethel Maude, Roy Alvin, Clayton Earl, Irving Spencer, Lynn Jay, and Irene Ruth.

Mary (Dascher) Howe died on March 22, 1953 at the age of 71.

At the time of her death, she was survived by her husband, Clarence, and nine children: Merrill, Harold, Edwin, Leland, Roy, Clayton, Irving, Lynn Howe, and Irene Tillapaugh; and 15 grandchildren. She was also survived by five brothers including Simeon, Fred, Albert, Matthias Adam, and Henry Dascher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simeon and Marie (Ortloff) Dascher, and by her infant children Floyd Clemmens (1906) and Ethel Maude (1911). She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters including Christ Dascher, Charles Dascher, Elsbeth (Dascher) Ohland, baby Matthias Dascher, Anna (Dascher) Stresemann, Clara (Dascher) Fleischer, Fanny (Dascher) Alsleben, and baby Herman Dascher.

Funeral services for Mary Howe were held at Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva, North Dakota on March 26, 1953. She was buried in the Howe family plot, Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, McHenry County, North Dakota.
