Simeon Dascher Called Beyond
Simeon A. Dascher passed away at the Glencoe hospital Friday, May 22, at 10:20 p.m. the result of a heart condition. He attained the great age of 82 years, 1 month and 2 days.
He was a member of a family of 14. 12 of whom preceded him to the grave. His parents were Simeon Dascher and Marie Ortloff Dascher and he was born April 20,1871 on a farm west of Glencoe.
On May 23, 1895, he was united in marriage with Mary Lassen at the St. John Evangelical church near Biscay. Mrs. Dascher preceded her husband in death on April 13, 1946. They farmed west of Glencoe until 1917 when the family moved to the present residence at the northeast limits of town.
Mr. Dascher had been a long-time member of the Modern Woodsman Society. He was a respected citizen of the Glencoe community. In earlier years, he had served for a period of 12 years on the board of deacons of the First Congregational church of which he was a loyal member. He was a man of quiet and abiding faith, a man of integrity and high moral character - a man of good habits. He will be deeply missed by a wide circle of friends and loved ones to whom he has endeared himself.
Surviving is his daughter, Mable L., Dascher and a foster daughter, Mrs. Henry Scheidt, Glencoe; 4 brothers, Matt Dascher and Fred Dascher, Hutchinson; Henry Dascher, Milwaukie, Oregon, and Albert Dascher of New Salem, N.D. A sister, Mrs. Mary Howe, died March 22, preceding his departure by exactly two months.
A family prayer was held at the home at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, May 27, and at 2 o'clock at the church. Rev. M.B. McKendry officiated. His message was on th words, "Because I Live, Ye Shall Live Also." Text: John 14:19. Mrs. Joseph Pott presided at the organ and accompanied a ladies quartet, who sang, "Jesus Lever of My Soul," and "Abide With Me." The quartet was composed of Mrs. Aurthur Neumaier, Mrs. Norbert Snyder, Mrs. M.B. McKendry and Mrs. Vernon Hoysler. Deacon I.O. Butler acted as the church usher.
The remains laid in state at Borkenhagen Chapel
Committal was in the Glencoe cemetery and serving as pallbearers were: six nephews: George Dascher, Buffalo Lake; Harold Dascher, Hutchinson; Herman Fleischer, Glencoe; Lester Fleischer, Hutchinson; John Dascher, Hutchinson and Raymond Stresemann of Brownton.
Among those attending the rites were: Albert Dascher, New Salem, N.D.; Merle, Edwin, Roy Howe, Velva N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hasz, Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Falkman, Mrs. Emily Holmes, Mrs. Dora Becker, St. Paul; Henry Dascher, Milwaukie, Oregon; Howard Lassen and daughter, Dorothy, Gonvick; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Richards, Mr. and Mrs. George Dascher, Buffalo Lake; Mrs. Frank Warner, Mrs. Emil Lempke, Mrs. Frank Runke, Fred Dascher, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dascher, Hutchinson; Mr. and Mrs, Julius Koehler and family, Buffalo Lake; Mrs. Herman Schroeder, Hector; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Klitzke, Gibbon; Alvin Reickheim, Winthrop; Mrs. Ray Fitzloff, Mrs. Ed Fitzloff, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fuglsang, Hutchinson; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stresemann, Brownton and Mrs. Edwin Berger, Gibbon.
