Rachel McMillan was the daughter of Jotham and Ann Moore McMillan. She was one of five children, the others being William, John, Elizabeth, and Alexander. Rachel McMillan married John Henry (son of Matthew Henry and Jennie Long Henry), in 1816. They eventually had 12 children.

John and Rachel McMillan Henry remained in Ireland, as did their son William. Their remaining 11 children emmigrated to the United States; Matthew, the oldest, alone, Ann Henry Wilson with her husband and children born in Ireland next; the others singly or in groups of two.

John McMillan (an MD per family history) married Ann Steel; their daughter Annie and her husband Alexander Young came to the United States, settling in Wisconsin. Alexander McMillan married Jane Oliver and they had several children including one boy, Joseph Oliver McMillan, who ultimately emmigrated to the US, marrying and settling in Illinois. Other siblings of Rachel McMillan (William and Elizabeth) married and remained in Ireland.
