Born the eighth of twelve children of John and Rachel McMillan Henry at "Dirtagh," the family farm in Aghanloo Parish, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. ("The Henry Family of Flower Hill, Ireland" erroneously says he was the sixth child; appears to be a typographical error.) He was the only child not to emmigrate to America, remaining on the farm until his death from an accident on 18 March, 1891, aged 60. Per notation in "The Henry Family of Flower Hill, Ireland" he was buried in Aghanloo Old Church Burying Ground on Monday, 23rd inst., at 9 o'clock AM.
