~ The Long Island Daily Press, Jamaica, New York, May 15, 1938 contained a long article about the Baldwin family the middle name sometimes written separated as 'de La Vergne' given to his youngest son is a surname of one of the family ancestors.

Services for William C. Baldwin, 85, formerly of 35-47 64th street, Long Island City, will be held at 8 P. M. tomorrow in the Quinn chapel at 36-10 Broadway, Astoria.
Burial will be on Monday in upstate Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Mr. Baldwin died yesterday in a Brooklyn nursing home.
Born in Poughkeepsie, Mr. Baldwin lived most of his life on Long Island including eight years in Queens. He was a descendant of George Baldwin, an early settler in Rhode Island.
Mr. Baldwin worked for 40 years in Burden's department store in Jamaica, now out of business. He retired as a buyer.
Surviving are his widow, Louise; a son, William; two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
There may not be a marker at William's resting place.
