Harold was born July 6, 1927 in Campus, IL, the son of Myron and Alma (Brandt) King. He married Bess M. Williams August 27, 1948 in Decatur, IL. She survives.
Harold was a member of Central Christian Church of Decatur, IL for over forty years, a WWII Navy Veteran and the former Personnel Director of Mississippi Valley Structural Steel. Following his retirement he served as a private contractor in Human Resources with several Decatur area companies.
Harold was a proud Runnin Red graduate of the Decatur High School Class of 1945. He was also an active volunteer in the last century serving the American Red Cross and the United Way. Harold was also a charter member and past president of the SERTOMA breakfast club. During his retirement he served as an ombudsman for the Illinois Office on Aging.
Surviving is his wife, Bess; son, David (Nancy) King of Decatur, IL; daughters: Connie (Jon) King of Moweaqua, IL and Lori (Roy) Roberts of Niantic, IL; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Janet) King of Metamora, IL; and sisters: Lorraine (Ken) French of Lincoln, IL and Nancy Ator of Jacksonville, IL.
Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Paul King; four brothers and two sisters.
