Rebecca Chenoweth was born in Clark County, Ohio in 1812, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Watson Chenoweth. She was married to Charles G Smith on Dec 27, 1831 in Clark County, Ohio where she lived her entire life. Charles died in 1855, his estate was probated Aug 15, 1855 in Clark County. Rebecca sadly became senile and was declared an imbecile on Oct 1880 in Clark County court, and Almon Bradford, lawyer, was appointed guardian of her estate. Her son in law, Timothy Wilson, filed to replace Mr. Bradford as guardian of his mother-in-law's estate on May 20, 1885, which was granted. Then on Mar 3, 1887, the guardianship was passed to Rebecca's son-in-law, Russell B Reeder, husband of her daughter, Margaret .
The 3rd and final probate hearing was filed Jun 15, 1892 for Rebecca Smith, "now deceased" and heard in Probate Court Aug 8, 1892, recorded . It is assumed she and Charles were buried near their baby daughter, Mary Ellen Smith, in the Greenlawn Cemetery, tombstones have not been found but there are empty burial plots beside Mary Ellen, who died at age 1yr. 3ms 21 ds.
