Evelyn Rose Buschjost, age 83, of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Summit Villa Memory Care in Holts Summit. She was born in St. Elizabeth on April 28, 1934, daughter of the late George Timothy and Emma Gertrude (Kemna) Oligschlaeger.

On July 11, 1959, at St. Lawrence Church in St. Elizabeth, Evelyn married Marvin "Butch" Louis Buschjost, who preceded her in death on June 29, 2013.

Evelyn graduated from St. Elizabeth High School and later attended Central Missouri State University where she earned her degree in teaching. During her teaching career she taught home economics and elementary. She retired from public education with over 25 years of service in various schools, but her last years were spent with the Blair Oaks School District.

Evelyn was on the naming committee for the Blair Oaks District and a faithful Blair Oaks Falcon sports fan. Evelyn was an excellent cook and a talented seamstress. She made her own wedding dress and the dresses for her bridesmaids. She and her husband Marvin enjoyed traveling. Throughout their marriage they visited all 50 states. She was a member of St. Ann's Sodality and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas.

She is survived by four children, Gregory Buschjost and wife Jeanie of Fulton, Douglas Buschjost and wife Robyn of Jefferson City, Curtis Buschjost and wife Sharon of Jefferson City, and Susan Wood and husband Corey of St. Thomas; eight grandchildren, Ben Buschjost (Megan), Sara Schlueter (Ryan), Lindsey Buschjost, Justin Buschjost, Alex Buschjost, Brock Buschjost, Derek Wood, and Kendall Wood; and three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Buschjost, Avery Buschjost, and Elias Schlueter.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Norbert Oligschlaeger and two sisters, Mary Ann Turner and Joyce Backes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 27, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Thursday, October 26, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Thomas Catholic School. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
