Leila Mae (Briddle) Scott, 92, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Homer Crenshaw and Susie Myrtle (Lay) Briddle, she was born December 31, 1924 in Fegley, Missouri.

On August 9, 1943 in Novinger, Missouri, Leila was united in marriage to Oren Scott who preceded her in death on August 23, 1984.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Melvin Eugene Scott; one brother, Chester Briddle; and one sister, Ruby Amon.

Leila is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Sandy Scott of O'Fallon, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Franklin Wheeler of Greentop, MO; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Claude Briddle of Wyoming and Glenn and Carm Briddle of Kirksville, MO; one sister and brother-in-law Eunice and Bob Barrickman of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Mark David Scott, Michael Loren Scott, Wesley Eugene Wheeler, and Bradley Scott Wheeler; seven great-grandchildren, Chase Garrett Wheeler, Carley Rion Wheeler, Aiden Scott, Jackson William Scott, Sophia Esme Scott, Liam Scott and Ava Scott, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Leila was a life long resident of Adair County and received her education in the Mulberry rural school. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, and canning, but will be remembered the most for being a wonderful cook and apple dumpling and pie baker (for a few or for many).

She was a member of Hazel Creek Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed her church family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Garnet Paris, Gerald Paris, Gayle Scott, Ricky Briddle, Gary Briddle, and Jerry Findling.
