Jane was the eldest child of Gilbert and Sarah Greene Reeves. She was one of 9 children.

Jane Reeves( Cleary) was born at Ballydonagh, near Cloughjordan, County Tipperary as were her 8 siblings.

Jane came to America at the age of eighteen with her younger sister Johanna. She married John Cleary, brother of her Uncle Thomas Cleary both formerly of Tipperary County, Erie, in 1868. John came to America in 1864 with his two brothers, Michael and Martin.

John and Jane were married in Bloomington, IL in 1868 and lived near Gilman for about eight years. They then moved one mile north of Kappa, living there at least eighteen years. They had 11 children. John was hit by a train and killed near Kappa.

(John had been to the city and arrived back in Kappa on the northbound which was an hour late. He was walking home between the two tracks when the local southbound train struck him. The engineer saw the accident and rendered help. They took him to the doctor in Kappa and later to his home. He died the next day from his injuries.)

Three children died in infancy, the eight remaining were Michael, James, John, Sarah, Thomas, William, Mary, and Jennie.

Jane raised her family in the El Paso vicinity. She passed at the age of 78.
