Herbert A. Score died November 8, 1957 at 24-26 Caney Road, Rosedale, Long Island where he was living with his sister Mae (Score) Zino.

He was buried in First Calvary, Section 8, Range 64, Plot EE, Grave 12, a gravesite purchased in 1874 by Julian Ehrig.

Herbert was born May 1901 at 23 Leroy in Greenwich Village to James H. and Mary Ann (Geraghty) Score. His father James H. was a cooper. His grandfather James Score was a cigar maker and veteran of the Civil War.

Herbert was one of six children. An older brother and sister died before he was born. Herbert was 14 when his older brother Harold died and 17 when his younger brother Walter died, leaving Herbert and his sister Mae as the surviving Score children. Brother and sister remained close throughout life. Mae (Score) Zino was buried with Herbert in 8-64-EE-12.

Herbert married Anna May Kelley at St. Clare's R.C. Church in Rosedale in 1932. They had 3 children: Herbert Jude, Helen Mary and Anna Mae.

Herbert was retired from the New York City Police in 1944 after 20 years service. He was employed at REA (Railway Express Agency) prior and after.

Herbert and Anna were legally separated at the time of his death in 1957. Mrs. Anna May Score was living in Lake Worth, Florida.

Herbert A. Score was my great uncle.
