Mary Ann Geraghty was born and raised in New York City, the only child to survive infancy of the four children of Irish immigrants James Patrick and Catherine (Finnegan) Geraghty. She lost her siblings and mother at a young age and lost her father as a teenager.

Mary Ann Geraghty was born March 11, 1866. She was baptized at the Church of the Transfiguration, 25 Mott St, Manhattan on March 15, 1866.

Mary Ann Geraghty would go on to marry James Henry Score on November 30, 1890 at St. Joseph's. Happily married, they resided in Greenwich Village, NYC, many of those years at 23 Leroy St, before moving to Rosedale, Queens. They had six children. Their two children that survived to adulthood were my grandmother Mae (Score) Zino and great Uncle Herbert Score.

Mary Ann died March 15, 1945 at the three generation residence 240-26 Caney Road, Rosedale, where she was also waked. The Requiem funeral mass was at St. Clare's in Rosedale. She was buried March 19, 1945 in First Calvary Section 8 / Range 34 / Plot DD / Grave 7, the Geraghty family grave bought by her father James Patrick Geraghty in 1869, at the time of the death of Mary Ann's 4 month year old sibling Thomas.

Mary Ann erected the gravestone on 8-34-DD-7 soon after the burial of her husband James H. Score in 1933. In addition to her parents and siblings, her husband and four of their children predeceased Mary Ann and she was buried with them. Her grand-daughter Muriel (Zino) Bobkowski was the last burial in this grave in 1966.

Her children Mae (Score) Zino and Herbert Score were also buried in First Calvary in Section 8, but in separate grave area 8-64-EE-12.

See Mary Ann Score's obituary in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, March 17, 1945, page 5. Her grandson, my father, Kenneth Zino, was serving overseas in WWII at the time of her death.
