Lester E. Williams, 88, of Schaumburg for the past seven years, formerly of Bradford most of his life, died Tuesday evening, May 31, 1994, at Hoffman Estates Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

Born July 14, 1905, in Canton to John and Lucy Libby Williams, he married Fern Girard on June 14, 1929, in Missouri. She died in May 1987.

He also was preceded in death by one grandson, three brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are one son, Stephen of Des Plaines; three grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and six sisters, Mary Commingore, Viola Gaskill, Josephine Fish and Georgie Elliott, all of Canton, Lela Elliott of Farmington and Margaret Schmidt of Moline.

He owned the International Harvester Dealership in Bradford for 24 years and also had owned a Buick dealership in Bradford for several years. He opened Bradford's first laundromat in 1959 and owned Bradford School Bus Co. for more than 30 years.

He was the former president of Bradford Businessmen's Association. He was a charter member of the Bradford Lion's Club and had held various offices.

He was a lifelong active member of the Stark County Republican Organization.

He was a member of Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford.

Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
