Inis was born on April 15, 1929 at Sidney, KY the daughter of the late James Harvey and Martha Jane Hankins Crigger. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Frank Thornsbury; her second husband, Claude Clifford Brown; two brothers and six sisters.
Inis was a graduate of Belfry High School and attended Pikeville College. Later, she worked as a cook for the Pike County school system. For most of her life though, she was a homemaker because she truly loved to cook and take care of people. She also loved to go to church, she attended Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 45 years.
Inis is survived by her two sons, Roger (Linda) Thornsbury of Oil Springs, KY and Keith (Tamera) Thornsbury of Lowmansville, KY; her two daughters, Janie (Claude) Vermillion of Forest Hills, KY and Melinda (Steve) Bowman of Erwin, TN; her sister, Edith Williamson of Sidney, KY; twenty-seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 beginning at 1 PM at the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with Stony Blackburn, Lacy Walters, and Ivan Neal Thornsbury officiating. Burial will follow at the Thorsbury Cemetery Dix Fork of Sidney, KY with son-in-law and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Howard Phillips will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held from 6-9 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home with special services at 7 PM. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Brown family.
