Source: The Phelps Family of America and their English Ancestors , With Copies of Wills, Deeds, Letters, and Other Interesting Papers, Coats of Arms and Valuable Records, Compiled By Judge Oliver Seymour Phelps, of Portland, Oregon, and Andrew T. Servin of Lenox, Mass., In Two Volumes., Vol. I., Published By Eagle Publishing Company of Pittsfield, Mass., 1899.

Amelia is listed as the third child of Aaron and Abigail Barber Phelps, born 1775. This date is more realistic given Aaron and Abigail were married in 1767 and had their first child, Aaron, on 22 Apr 1768. Samuel was born 1774 and he and Amelia were married 04 Jan 1796 and had their first child, John, that year on 08 Oct 1796 in Hebron, Connecticut. They had four more children together, Samuel, Amelia, Harriet and Francis Dean. The last was born Nov 1805, so Amelia's passing was most likely due to other than child birth. A tragic, short life. May you rest peacefully.

Previous bio:
According to Will J. Warner's Necrology of Hebron, " Sam'l Gott's wife died 25 Aug 1807, aged 45.". The same information is in "Town Death Records, 1686-1760," original possessed by Hebron Town Clerk. Neither record supplies her Christian name. Both manuscripts are viewable at the Connecticut State Library and transcribed in Linda MacLachlan's "New Copies of Old Records from Hebron, Connecticut, 1708-1875" (Heritage Books, 2011).
