East Avenue Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Springwater, NY, first burial in 1810. Some of the markers are simply wooden markers, or stones with no name or dates. Mindwell is most certainly buried in this cemetery. Only 27 burials have been positively identified.
The cemetery is located on East Avenue in Springwater NY. From the four corners in Springwater where State Routes 15 and 15A intersect, turn east onto East Avenue. The cemetery is found within a quarter mile and sits on the left (north) side of the road. It has some wooden headstones and is the oldest cemetery in Springwater.
The first burial in this cemetery was 30 Mar 1810; the last burial was in 1876. There are 27 known burials besides several that are marked with unlettered fieldstones. Those identified are from the records of J. Reid Robinson and Dorothy Graham, previous Springwater historians.
